Formative Search has been tasked with finding a Sales Director for a newly established renewable energy platform in Japan, supported by one of the world's largest funds. This pivotal role will concentrate on the commercial and industrial (C&I) solar sector, contributing significantly to the company's vision of becoming a major player in the global renewable power industry, with substantial investments planned throughout the 2020s.Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy in Japan, focusing on commercial and industrial solar projects, aligning with the company's capacity expansion objectives, in close collaboration with C-level executives.
- Take ownership of achieving sales targets for the PPA services by cultivating customer relationships, improving existing offerings, and serving as the primary expert within the sales team.
- Prepare and present commercial proposals, lead negotiations, and secure PPAs by working closely with project development, legal, finance, and other relevant teams to ensure project timelines and contract terms align with business needs.
- Oversee multiple sales projects with varying deadlines, prioritize tasks and focus areas to keep projects on schedule, and report progress effectively and efficiently as needed.
- Identify and evaluate potential opportunities for C&I solar projects, and lead negotiations with relevant stakeholders, including landowners, government bodies, and community stakeholders, to secure necessary agreements.
- Oversee the entire sales approval process, navigating through diverse permitting procedures and associated costs specific to C&I solar projects in the region.
Key Qualifications:
- 10 or more years of experience in the Energy, Infrastructure, Industrial or Power markets.
- Strong background in sales transactions and origination, energy innovation projects, and infrastructure development within the C&I segment.
- Profound knowledge of sales development, including project management, risk mitigation, financing, technical standards, regulatory processes, and experience in auction bidding.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts and systems effectively.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, handling multiple roles and functions simultaneously.
- Previous experience working for an international organization is highly preferred.
- Fluency in English and Japanese is a must.
